ππ€P4/5 Trip to Palace Stablesππ€
P4/5 had an experience of "Living History" on Monday past during their visit to the Palace Stables, Armagh. The pupils took part in four brilliant workshop activities.
Firstly, we made our own Identity card in preparation for evacuation. Then we heard all about rationing, the Blitz in Belfast and why children were evacuated to the countryside for their safety.
We also visited the underground air raid shelter and explored the role of an Evacuation Officer. Aoibheann then took on the role of Evacuation Officer.
We met an American GI soldier who was based in Armagh. He explained his role to Charlie and then put the children through a drill.
We learned so much about the life experience of children during the war years.
It was a fantastic experience which we will remember for a long time.ππ€
